In September 2025, I returned to Fulgurances Laundromat with Scott Murry for a collaborative dinner series that brought together two divergent yet complementary approaches. Scott’s cooking, inventive and precise, carried the imprint of his upbringing in Asia—spices layered with intention, the electric hum of Sichuan peppercorn threaded through his dishes. My own contributions drew on what I had harvested in California and along the East Coast, as well as provisions gathered and preserved over years of travel, each ingredient carrying its own history. Together, the menus formed a conversation between memory and movement: landscapes distilled into flavor, familiar comforts set against the wild and the far-flung, each course a point of connection between our two paths.
